In the history of Malawi politics, no presidential ticket has ever featured people who are very close to each other than the Chakwera/Mia ticket.
Which is a good thing. A candidate and his runningmate need to know and trust each other.
They need to develop a working strategy together. They need to have a shared vision.
Unlike the previous presidential tickets, who were only known on nominations day, the Chakwera/Mia ticket has been there ahead of time. Giving voters a chance to know and examine them closely.
If there is a match made in heaven this ticket qualifies as the one. It has come out not because of electoral deadline.
The closeness aside, Mia brings to the ticket a vast wealth of political and government experience. Having been in active politics since the days of UDF.
On top of that his successful business profile is enough assurance to the business community that their grievances will at last not only be heard, but be known at highest level of government.
And more importantly, he brings with him millions of votes from the southern region.
