Dear Dr Jimu
As Malawian Watchdog, an online Malawi news publication, we wish to bring to your attention the unnecessary anguish and stress you subject our young sons and daughters in as far as handling the release of those who have been selected to our public universities is concerned.
Having selected the applicants to pursue their studies in various universities, the problem, the public has observed, is that you give respective universities the discretion to release the names as they wish. For example, yesterday, University of Malawi council decided to release their names.
Many parents and kids themselves, who depend on our trusted publication to access such names, kept troubling us, asking if the names for those who have been selected to go to Mzuzu University, Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources and Malawi University of Science and Technology have also been released.
When we told them that the respective colleges will release them in due course, the response appeared not convincing to many guardians who confessed to us that there is no longer peace in their houses, their sons and daughters in bad moods and stress, having learnt that their kids’ were not picked by UNIMA.
Mr CEO, it would have been better if you were taking control of releasing such names so you release the names from ALL universities at once than this torture you are subjecting our children to.
In the meantime, some kids are happy that they have made it to varsity while others are stressed up, thinking they haven’t made it to the university when there are other names from this other universities which have not been released.
We represent the public and we have made the concerns from the public known to you and we hope that you will put this request into consideration otherwise ‘blood pressure’ among a good section of applicants waiting for their final fate is high out there.
Release the names at once and let every applicant know his fate at once. This is what Malawians want.
We hope that NCHE is a people centered institution and indeed if it is the case, you will respond to this letter and we hope to hear from you soon.
