BLANTYRE (Malawian Watchdog)—Many Malawians want to see opposition Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President Dr Lazarus Chakwera take over the reins of power in the forthcoming 2019 elections.
The latest to endorse Chakwera and MCP is a pressure group, Transformational Alliance (TA), led by Moses Kumkuyu.
TA endorsed Chakwera and MCP during a function where the grouping organized a press conference in Blantyre today.
By endorsing MCP, Kumkuyu also announced that he had joined the party. He said TA sees MCP and its leadership as the “ideal one to take Malawi into greater heights”.
Kunkuyu said the decision to endorse MCP has been reached following constructive and serious discussions they had with the party in a bid to liberate the country from what he called perpetual leadership deficiencies.
“MCP and TA share the same ideologies and realising that pressure groups don’t participate in elections, it is therefore our deep conviction that through active participation in the forthcoming elections we will be pushing our agenda in the right direction of aiding Malawi to get transformed,” he said.
Another member of TA, Wazamazama Katatu, former Mzuzu University Student Leader, also announced that he has joined MCP and that he would vying for a Member of Parliament Position in his Kasungu District.
